Yesterday, the Port of Barcelona hosted the inauguration of the innovative installation of photovoltaic panels at the Moll de Pescadors, within the framework of the LIFE BIPV (Building-integrated Photovoltaics) project, coordinated by COMSA Corporación and co-financed by the European LIFE programme. The innovative photovoltaic panels, with organic cells and light, flexible and easy-to-install materials, have been developed by the German company Heliatek.
The aim of the project is to develop and demonstrate solutions for integrating photovoltaic modules into buildings to increase their renewable energy generation and the sustainability of buildings and infrastructures. The photovoltaic installation on the curved roof of the dock buildings, with a capacity of 29.5 kWp, will generate 43.4 MWh per year, which represents a 5% of the total consumption of the Moll de Pescadors and a 11% of the consumption of the ice factory.
With this achievement, the first phase of the creation of an Energy Community at Moll de Pescadors has been completed, within the framework of the CREATORS project.
