The Catalan Water Agency (ACA-Agència Catalana de l’Aigua) has awarded Aigües de Catalunya contracts to manage the water remediation systems in various municipalities in the province of Lleida. Of the five lots of Wastewater Treatment Plants (EDAR-Estaciones Depuradoras de Aguas Residuales) which the ACA put out to tender, Aigües de Catalunya has obtained the Noguera Lot and Garrigues-Urgell Lot for a total value of 4.5 million Euros.
The contracts involve the operation, conservation and maintenance of the water remediation systems, which comprise the treatment plants, pumping stations and drainage networks. They also entail controlling the operation of the treatment plants, water quality and the treatment process itself, performing analytics and generating reports, and making various energy-saving improvements in the facilities.
These contracts, which include towns with large volumes such as Balaguer and Agramunt, allow the water management company to remain one of the sector’s main companies in Catalonia, and especially in Lleida, where it has won several operation tenders in recent years.
