Acquisition of a wind farm of 20 MW in Zamora

Banco Sabadell and COMSA EMTE, through their companies Sinia Renovables (62%) and COMSA EMTE Energías Renovables (38%), have closed the purchase of the wind farm Sierra Sesnández in Riofrío de Aliste (Zamora). This is a 20 MW facility that will generate 46 GWh of power annually, which is equal to the average consumption of 13,270 homes (source INE).

The wind farm under construction will represent a total investment of 33 million euros. The facility will be integrated into a group of farms with common electric evacuation and is due to be launched in August 2012. The company Gamesa will be responsible for supplying and installing the ten 2MW wind turbines.

COMSA EMTE, through different companies of the group, will be in charge of the engineering work and electrical installations at the farm and will also be responsible for the operations and control of the same.

COMSA EMTE and renewable energies

COMSA EMTE’s activities in the energies sphere is centred on the promotion, operating and maintenance of special regime power generation plants. Its projects focus on the areas of wind, photovoltaic (ground and roof), solar thermal and biomass energy. Likewise, it has plants dedicated to purine processing, degasification, thermal drying of clay and forest biomass. COMSA EMTE’s international activity in the area of renewable energy has been recently reinforced thanks to the framework agreement with the Mexican group Grupomar for the promotion and development of wind and mini-hydraulic energy projects. The group has also developed a 1.2 MWp solar photovoltaic power pilot plant in the province of San Juan (Argentina).

Banco Sabadell, through Sinia Renovables SCR de Régimen Simplificado, S.A., is taking out temporary stakes in renewable energies. Banco Sabadell is providing significant support in the field of renewable energies and specifically wind energy projects. The company is also analyzing investment in other renewable sources of electrical energy, such as solar, cogeneration plants and mini-hydraulic power plants. On 30th September 2011, as well as the operations described, the following shares in the Sinia Renovables portfolio will be available: Adelanta Corporación, Hidrodata, Veciana-Cabaro Wind Farm, Magaz Wind Farm, ESUS Energía Renovable, Eólica Mirasierra (Palencia), Loma del Capón Wind Farm (Granada), Eolia and Fersa.
