The Department of Agriculture, Food and Rural Action of the Generalitat of Catalonia has awarded Adasa with a contract for the maintenance and development of the RuralCat portal, the virtual community of the food processing community and the Catalan rural world.
This pioneering portal inSpainwas created ten years ago and has over 17,000 registered users. The priority of RuralCat is to promote the use of new technologies in the rural and food processing sectors, to promote the growth of the sector through professionalization, to promote the dissemination of knowledge and to guide users according to their common interests and needs.
Its success as a means of transmission of knowledge in the Catalan agriculture sector has obtained recognition from several institutions. RuralCat was selected by the Ministry of Agriculture in 2011 as a model for its conference on the 50th anniversary of the Organization for Corporation and Economic Development (OCED), while the Generalitat of Catalonia included the portal as one of the success stories in its book ‘Innovación enla Administración’.
