The Generalitat de Catalunya has awarded EMTE Service the contract to improve the energy efficiency of the High Performance Centre (CAR) facilities at Sant Cugat del Vallès (Barcelona). The service will be provided in the form of an Energy Service Company (ESCO) contract for a period of ten years and will amount to 2.6 million euros.
The contract includes the renovation of the lighting system with LED technology, the adaptation and improvement of air conditioning systems, optimizing the energy consumption of the swimming pools through dehumidifier installation and insulation improvements, changing heat production equipment, outdoor pool heating using solar thermal energy and monitoring of different consumption levels for efficient management of the centre.
These actions, along with their proper maintenance and operation, ensure a return on investment, also providing the CAR with savings of 3.5 million euros in the energy cost of its facilities, as well as a 39% reduction in CO2 equivalent emissions into the atmosphere.
This contract consolidates EMTE Service among the major energy service companies (ESCOs) in Spain, with projects at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, the Port of Tarragona and the National University of Distance Education (UNED) in Madrid.
