The Ministry of Development, through Adif Alta Velocidad, has awarded Travipos the supply and transportation of 90,000 multipurpose sleepers for the Mérida-Badajoz section of the Madrid-Extremadura high speed line, 53.6 kilometres long. The project, worth 8.7 million Euros, has an execution period of eight months and will be carried out jointly with the company Andaluza de Traviesas.
The contract includes the manufacturing of the sleepers, acquisition and installation of the fastenings, collection from the factory and transportation, unloading and custody during the works, amongst other elements. The multipurpose sleepers supplied are prepared for the circulation of trains on standard (1,688 millimetres) and international (1,435 millimetres) gauge tracks. The section may adopt either gauge through a simple change made to the rail fastening elements, maintaining the existing axis and gauge of the track.
Travipos is integrated into COMSA EMTE’s Infrastructures line of business. Located in Constantí (Tarragona), it specialises in the production of prestressed concrete sleepers for the railway sector, being one of the main suppliers for high speed lines in Spain.
