New Joan XXIII Hospital in Tarragona

COMSA and COMSA Industrial, in a joint venture with Sacyr and VOPI-4, S.A., have been awarded the two contracts for the refurbishment of the Joan XXIII Hospital in Tarragona, the largest public health care centre in southern Catalonia.

The project includes the construction of the new main CORE building, covering almost 76,000 square metres, which will house the care and hospitalisation services. Second contract will be for the site’s facilities and equipment. The design envisages a linear hall connecting the entrances, with outpatient services to the east and high-tech areas to the west. This building will have 252 beds, 14 operating theatres, a day hospital with 58 points of care, and 20 radiodiagnosis rooms, as well as cabinets, warehouses, medical offices and mortuary.

At COMSA Corporación we reaffirm our commitment to the development of healthcare infrastructures, participating in construction projects as well as in the installation, maintenance and adaptation of these key spaces.

We are currently carrying out the construction and installation of the new outpatient building at the Hospital Universitari Arnau de Vilanova in Lleida, among other contracts. We have also built the Paediatric Cancer Centre at the Hospital Sant Joan de Déu Barcelona and we are executing the installations for the extension of the surgical block and the Oncology Day Hospital at the Hospital Josep Trueta in Girona. COMSA Service also carries out comprehensive maintenance and energy conservation of the buildings of the Hospital Duran i Reinals of the Institut Català d’Oncologia, and the maintenance of mechanical installations and refrigeration equipment at the Vall d’Hebron Campus.
