The new AVE line, which links Barcelona, Girona and Figueres, completes the 804 kilometres of high-speed line connecting Madrid, Barcelona and the French border and represents an investment of over 3,700 million euros.
The Barcelona-Figueres section was opened yesterday by the Prince of Asturias, accompanied by the President of the Government, Mariano Rajoy; the President of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Artur Mas, and the Minister of Development, Ana Pastor. Attending from COMSA EMTE was the president, Jorge Miarnau, alongside the CEO Josep Miarnau, and the General Manager of Engineering, Guillermo Lorenzo.
COMSA EMTE has been involved in infrastructure with work including OCL (overhead contact line) and tunnel lighting work on the new section, which links the four Catalan capitals with the rest of the Peninsula. The line opened forms part of the Mediterranean Corridor, infrastructure that will connect the entire coastline from Catalonia to Andalusia.
