Inauguration of the new OHIM building in Alicante, built by COMSA

The new building for the headquarters of the Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market (OHIM) in Alicante, in whose construction COMSA participated, was inaugurated on the 17th of this month. The European Union agency, responsible for the registration of trademarks and intellectual property at Community level, in this way extends its premises by 37,000 square meters, making a total area of 80,000.

The new building consists of three floors connected to the existing facilities, garden areas and an auditorium with capacity for 450 people for hosting major European and local events. It also has energy-saving facilities, with green roofs, wind turbines, geothermal and photovoltaic energy, rainwater recycling, solar thermal energy and lighting control.

The project has also involved the engineering company EMTE, which has installed all the facilities in the building: air conditioning, electrical installation, fire protection, control and security. The extension of its headquarters will enable the European agency to accommodate its more than 1,500 employees, for whom 430 new parking spaces have also been built.

Antonio Campinos, President of OHIM, and Alberto Fabra, president of the Autonomous Community of Valencia, presided over the inauguration of the new facilities, in an event that was also attended by the president of COMSA EMTE, Jorge Miarnau, the COMSA Director of Infrastructure for the Valencia and Murcia area, Rafael Moll, and the EMTE Head of Installations for the area of Levante, Manuel Agramunt.
