This past Friday, October 29, the inauguration of the new Balears Quay in the Port of Tarragona took place. The project, carried out by COMSA and FCC, aims to increase the port’s capacity to make a qualitative and quantitative leap in cruise traffic.
The presentation ceremony was attended by personalities such as Jordi Puigneró, Vice President of Generalitat de Catalunya and Counselor of Digital Policies and Territories; Francisco Toledo, president of Puertos del Estado; Josep Maria Cruset, president of the Port of Tarragona and Teresa Cunillera, delegate of the Government in Catalonia, among others. Cruset was in charge of presenting the project and explaining the ten phases of construction of the dock.
The new infrastructure will allow cruises to berth on both sides, doubling the number of cruise ships that can dock simultaneously -up to four- while allowing the largest cruise ships in the world to be received. This new cruise terminal has a comfortable and functional area of more than 5,000 m2.
