GMF, first Spanish company certified for maintenance of freight wagons in Europe

The Ministry of Public Works, through the Directorate General of Railways, has awarded Gestión de Maquinaria Ferroviaria (GMF) certification as an Entity in Charge of Maintenance (ECM) of freight wagons. The company, part of the COMSA EMTE Transport and Logistics business, thus becomes the first Spanish company (and one of the first in Europe) to obtain the certificate, which permits maintenance management of wagons used throughout the European Union rail network.

Obtaining this certificate complies with the requirements established by existing European Community Law (Regulation 445/2011), which requires all freight wagons to be assigned an Entity in Charge of Maintenance before May 31, 2013 to be allowed to operate.

GMF is specialized in the repair and comprehensive maintenance of railway rolling stock for wagons, locomotives and auxiliary track machinery. As the Entity in Charge of Maintenance, the company will provide its customers with its expertise in the management and maintenance of their own machinery, consisting of more than 100 vehicles and 300 wagons.
