COMSA Corporación, together with CYCASA, has successfully completed one of the most complex phases in the modernisation of the Torrelavega-Santander railway line, bringing into service a new track between Renedo and Guarnizo. This achievement allows Renfe trains to run again between Santander and Renedo, marking a key advance in the improvement of the transport infrastructure in Cantabria.
The project, part of the Cantabria Suburban Railway Plan, has overcome important technical challenges, such as the construction of a concrete slab in Parbayón, supported by more than 80 piles, which facilitates the installation of the new double track in an area with a complicated orography. This type of intervention underlines our capacity to execute highly complex projects, always aimed at improving the efficiency and safety of rail transport.
We have also eliminated the Parbayón level crossing by building a subway, improving road safety in the area. In addition, improvements have been made at Torrelavega Tanos station, including the forthcoming installation of a subway and lifts to ensure better accessibility.
Each advance in this project brings us closer to a more modern, safe and sustainable railway system, aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals and supported by the European Union through the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.
