COMSA has won a contract for the replacement of rail track and upgrading of the infrastructure of a stretch of 11.3 kilometres of line 9 of the Alicante Metropolitan TRAM, belonging to the network of Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana (Valencian Government Railways).
With a value of 7.6 million euros and an execution period of eleven and a half months, the works include the comprehensive modernisation of the rail track superstructure between the stations of Olla de Altea and Calp, rehabilitation of the buildings of both stations, civil works for supporting the signalling and communications equipment, as well as other activities, such as replacing panels, increasing clearance in tunnels, improving drainage etc. In parallel, the work of remodelling and reinforcement of the structures of the railway workshop in Dénia will also be carried out.
The joint venture, in which COMSA assumes the role of principal construction company and rail specialist, involved competing against thirteen consortia who had also tendered for this contract.
The TRAM Alicante connects the metropolitan area of Alicante, as well as various municipalities in the districts of Marina Baja and Marina Alta. Managed by Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana, it is a hybrid transport system that combines the tram, running on both tram tracks and railway tracks, light rail and commuter services.
