COMSA will construct the Pancorbo (Burgos) terminal railway link

The Port Authority of Bilbao has awarded COMSA the construction of the rail link and the service tracks of the future Pancorbo Port-Rail Logistics Terminal in the province of Burgos. The construction works, valued at 13.8 million Euros, are due to commence at the beginning of 2013 and will take 18 months to complete.

The work to be carried out by COMSA, in collaboration with Cycasa, will connect the future terminal with the Madrid-Hendaya line, thus facilitating freight transport between the logistic centre and the Port of Bilbao.

The rail link is the first step in the process of creating this new logistic centre, which will have a surface area of approximately 500,000 m2. The Pancorbo terminal will handle outgoing goods and goods arriving at the Port of Bilbao from its hinterland in La Meseta, the highland plateau in central Spain, thus making it possible to form three complete trains to Bilbao through a shuttle service.
