COMSA, together with Vías y Construcciones, San José and Azvi, has been awarded the works to extend Madrid Chamartín-Clara Campoamor station. The contract consists of the remodelling and enlargement of the station lobby and the construction of four additional tracks for high-speed trains. The works will take five years to complete and are part of the Madrid Nuevo Norte project, the largest urban development operation in Europe.
With the enlargement works, the station will have a total of 25 tracks, 12 of which will be dedicated to high-speed trains. Moreover, the hall will be enlarged in order to connect with the new tracks and platforms and will be completely remodelled. The contract also includes the construction of an underground track connecting the Cercanías concourse with the Madrid underground and a technical building for high-speed facilities.
During the works, the station will remain operational, as the works will be coordinated in such a way as to maintain the railway traffic and the service provided to passengers.
