COMSA Rail Transport increases railway traffic by 25% compared to 2015

06/06/2017 – COMSA Rail Transport (CRT), a company specialised in rail freight transport and associated logistics services whose shareholders are COMSA Corporación and the French railway company SNCF, maintains its growth trend and sees an increase in its market share. During 2016, the company increased its activity by 25% compared to the previous year, from 9,700 trains moved in 2015 to a total of 12,200 in 2016, along with a 7% increase in net tonnage to reach 3.2 million tonnes.

CRT launched new car, intermodal, steel, paper and wood traffic operations, leading the Iberian market for private railway companies. The company’s projects included consolidating the transporting of steel products between Santurce (Vizcaya) and Aranda (Burgos) and starting a new operation to transport chemical containers between Seville, Cordoba and Algeciras. In addition, through Spanish-Portuguese subsidiary Ibercargo, belonging to COMSA Rail Transport and the Portuguese company Takargo, it launched a vehicle traffic operation between the Renault factories in Venta de Baños (Palencia) and Vale da Rosa (Setúbal, Portugal).

Once again this year, COMSA Rail Transport will be present at the International Logistics Fair, which will be held from 6 to 8 June at the Fira de Barcelona, sharing a stand (D-432) with VIIA, the company belonging to SNCF Logistics that operates rolling motorways for freight transport from Perpignan to Calais (France) and Bettembourg (Luxembourg), and also from the port of Sète to Noisy-le-Grand (Paris) and between Aiton (France) and Orbassano (Italy).
