COMSA EMTE supports railway innovation at BcnRail

From 19 to 21 November, COMSA EMTE took part in the fourth edition of BcnRail, the international railway industry fair, which is held every two years in Barcelona. The company shared its experience in the sector by giving two presentations linked to railway innovation on the topics of vehicle and track infrastructure maintenance.

During a series of conferences on innovation in the transport and logistics sector, the manager of GMF, Òscar Tesouro, analysed the advantages of using telematics to control and maintain railway vehicles. During his presentation, Tesouro highlighted the fact that using data transmission technology allows for the optimisation of maintenance costs for clients and the reduction of costs of consumables in goods carriages.

The head of R&D&I at the Infrastructures department of COMSA EMTE, Joan Peset, also gave a presentation on optimising vibration attenuation systems on railway lines. In this regard, he presented two of the projects the company is currently developing in the field.

On the one hand, COMSA ENTE is working with the International Centre for Numerical Methods in Engineering (CIMNE) on the SAFER project, an initiative to optimise railway insulation systems within the framework of the Ministry of Science and Innovation’s INNPACTO programme.

On the other hand, the ECOTRACK project is under way and looks into the use of recycled rubber to reduce track vibrations. This study, financed by the European Commission through Eco-Innovation, is supported by the company Sogo, and by GMN, which specialises in comprehensive management of unused tyres and is integrated within the Environmental area of COMSA EMTE.

The ECOTRACK project was presented at a stand during the latest edition of the Smart City Expo World Congress, which was held at the same time in Barcelona.
