Argentine Transport Minister visits Mitre Line renovation works

On 12 September, the Argentine Interior and Transport Minister, Florencio Randazzo, visited the track renovation works on the Retiro-José L. Suárez branch line, which COMSA is carrying out in Buenos Aires with the aim of improving train traffic on the Mitre Line.

The works contract, awarded by the operation management unit for the Mitre and Sarmiento lines (Unidad de Gestión Operativa Líneas Mitre y Sarmiento –UGOMS–), entails repairing the track in critical areas for traffic, replacing sleepers and rails, electrification coverage and improving the level and pedestrian crossings.

During his visit, Randazzo pointed out that the works form part of a plan for the improvement of the Mitre and Sarmiento lines, promoted by the Government at a total cost of over 200 million Euros, and confidently affirmed that the rail service will have improved noticeably within the next 12 months.
