Today the new high-speed concourse at Chamartín-Clara Campoamor station in Madrid came into service. This is one of the main milestones of the station remodelling project, promoted by ADIF and executed by COMSA in a joint venture with Vías y Construcciones S.A., SANJOSE CONSTRUCTORA and Grupo Azvi, which will improve the operation of the terminal and the comfort of users.
The new concourse, which has doubled its surface area to 4,600 m2, has been built on four new tracks that have also been put into service today and which will increase the station’s capacity.
Direct access to the suburban, metro and car rental services has also been created, promoting passenger intermodality. The subway to the taxi rank has also been improved and now has escalators, lifts and fixed stairs.
Work continues with the extension of the main concourse to the north. The transformation of Chamartín will adapt the station to the growing rail demand and sustainable mobility of the future.
