COMSA Corporación’s Industrial division in Latin America has won a new engineering contract in Colombia, the Toyo Tunnel ITS project in the department of Antioquia. COMSA Industrial has been awarded, together with a local consortium, the supply, installation, configuration, commissioning and operational support of electromechanical equipment for the Guillermo Gaviria Echeverri Tunnel (Túnel del Toyo) project and its access roads, as part of the “Roads for Legality and Reactivation Vision 2030” public works programme. These works will guarantee traffic safety once the construction of the longest tunnel in Colombia is completed and they include ventilation systems, fire protection, lighting, control and intelligent transport systems, among others.
Development of the engineering business
COMSA Industrial has consolidated its presence in Latin America through the development of strategic projects in the engineering sector. In Colombia, the company is installing ITS systems in the Sinifaná and Amagá tunnels on the Autopista Conexión Pacífico 1, and also in the Mulatos Tunnel on Pacífico 2. It is also participating in the implementation of traffic control systems in the third third of the Bogotá-Villavicencio Corridor.
