COMSA EMTE’s activities summary 2013

Europe

In the countries of the European Union, special mention should be made of the conclusion of the Ankara Metro (Turkey), construction of the Lugoj-Deva (Romania) motorway, the Rail Baltica project in Lithuania and the renovation of the railway line between Fosowskie and Opole (Poland). In France, the ITER urban development work continues, the assembly line has been contracted for a structural part of the Airbus A350 XWB inNantes, in addition to clean areas for the biosafety laboratory at the IRBA biomedical research institute, and the maintenance being carried out on 240 ornamental fountains in Paris. The Group has also strengthened its commercial rail traffic capacity in Europe with SNCF acquiring a stake in the capital of COMSA Rail Transport.

Latin America

COMSA EMTE has continued to grow in Latin America with work like construction and renovation of roads in Colombia, Mexico and Ecuador; duplication of the railway line between São Roque and Campinas (Brazil); the construction of buildings for the University of São Paulo (Brazil); electrical installations in various states of Mexico for the Federal Electricity Commission; development of the water quality monitoring system in the Atoyac river basin (Mexico); and the water treatment plant for the India Urquía power station (Venezuela), among other projects.

Africa

A feature in Africa is the activity in Algeria, with the construction of a pharmaceutical plant for the Saidal Group and the Tébessa special waste landfill, as well as the supply and installation of analogue and digital transmitters. In the same country, the Mecheria WWTP has been commissioned and the company is currently treating wastewater for a population of over one million people. Furthermore, the Cape Verde electricity grid was increased during 2013, as well as the supply and installation of air navigation aid systems at various airports inMorocco.

Asia

During the past year the Group strengthened its presence in the Asian market with the opening of a production centre inShanghai(China) to serve the local aeronautics industry. The company has become a leading partner of the Chinese manufacturer COMAC, for whom it is performing the design, manufacture and installation of automated assembly lines for its C919 commercial aircraft. In the field of air navigation it has supplied and installed an air traffic control system at the airport in Kathmandu (Nepal).

Spain

In Spain, the Group obtained the construction contract for the Martorell (Barcelona) – Sant Vicenç de Calders (Tarragona) section of the Mediterranean Corridor, and the maintenance and operation of various roads in Lleida. The building sector includes the construction of the pavilion for the world basketball championship in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and, in specialized civil works, completion of works on the East Breakwater at the Port of Barcelona.

COMSA EMTE has performed electrical installations at Lebrija station (Seville), La Sagrera station (Barcelona) and Hospitalet de Llobregat station. In the area of systems engineering, contracts obtained included the digital emergency communications network for the Xunta de Galicia or the digital mobile radio network for emergencies and security in the Community of Madrid.

The Group has secured new contracts for municipal services in Santa Coloma de Gramenet, Santa Maria de Palautordera, Castellví de Rosanes and Arenys de Munt (Barcelona). It has also won contracts for maintenance and improvement of energy efficiency at the Sant Cugat CAR buildings (Barcelona) or the full maintenance contract for various hospitals and health centres in Castellón. 2013 also saw the opening of the Les Borges Blanques solar thermal plant (Lleida), which has won the Icaen award for energy excellence.
