COMSA Corporación has a positive net financial position, having achieved great soundness to face up to future challenges. For the fourth consecutive year, the group continues on the path of net profit growth, reaching EUR 7.5 million, an increase of 38% over the previous year. Likewise, corporate debt with financial institutions fell to EUR 24 million in 2024, once below the EBITDA.
Infrastructures consolidated its position as the group’s growth driver, with a turnover of EUR 636 million. On the other hand, the Industrial Engineering business unit had a turnover of EUR 210 million in 2024, Maintenance and Services reached EUR 115 million, and GMF, the group’s company specialising in railway rolling stock maintenance, EUR 26 million.
Commitment to sustainability
In 2024, COMSA became the first construction company to receive the Sustainability Contribution Index certificate for construction companies. This new Aenor certification is specific to construction companies and measures the company’s contribution to sustainability from a 360º ESG approach.
Development of strategic projects
The group’s Infrastructure business, in synergy with the engineering area, is carrying out, among other projects, the construction of the B-40 motorway and its ITS systems, the construction of the new outpatient building of the Hospital Universitari Arnau de Vilanova, in Lleida, and the refurbishment of the Palacio de la Tinta, in Malaga.
In addition, COMSA Corporación’s high level of railway specialisation and its century-long track record warrant its participation in major mobility projects, such as the Basque Y (it is currently developing sector 3 of the Mondragón, Elorrio, and Bergara branch line), the doubling of the Renedo-Guarnizo track in Cantabria Suburban Railway, or the construction of the Barcelona Tram between Glòries and Verdaguer, among others. It has also recently been awarded the contract for the automation of Metro Madrid’s L6, the city’s first automatic line.
Last year, GMF also managed the maintenance of railway vehicles, both for public and private clients, in addition to its own fleet of machinery. In 2025, the group plans to continue investing in this business area.
Among the most relevant works in the field of Industrial Engineering are the maintenance of networks of the main power companies in Spain (Iberdrola, Endesa, and Naturgy), the electromechanical installations of the new Chamartín station, and the supply and installation of boarding bridges at various airports in the Aena network.
Finally, the Maintenance, Conservation and Services area carried out, among other contracts, the maintenance of installations at Port Aventura, and the multi-technical maintenance of the Consorci Mar Parc de Salut, in Barcelona.
International consolidation
In the international sphere, COMSA Corporación had a turnover of EUR 283 million, strengthening its presence especially in Latin America and Europe.
In Mexico, the company is carrying out the renovation of tracks and systems on Line 1 of the Mexico City Metro, as well as its maintenance. In Brazil, it is building the BRT transport system in Brasilia; and in Colombia, the installation and start-up of the intelligent transport systems (ITS) in the Toyo tunnel – the longest in Latin America.
Also noteworthy is the maintenance of rolling stock on Line 2 of the Lima and Callao Metro, in Peru, which is being carried out by the GMF group company.
In Portugal, the group is working on expansion work on the yellow and green lines of the Lisbon Metro, as well as the renovation of the Beira Alta Line, among other projects.
Digital Construction
As a result of its commitment to innovation, and with the aim of offering the best service to its customers, COMSA Corporación has created the Digital Construction department to promote digitalisation in the execution of works.
With an investment exceeding EUR 5.5 million in 2024, the Innovation area is developing around twenty projects aligned with the SDGs, especially in the field of Sustainable Mobility.
