The access road to the port of Tazacorte (La Palma), executed by COMSA and SATOCAN, became operational yesterday. Its opening to traffic will improve access to the port, allowing the transit of heavy transport, mainly agricultural, from the coast to the summit without passing through the main residential area of the municipality.
The new section, which runs from the Glorieta de la Marina to the Pozo de la Fuerza roundabout, is 2,200 metres long. It also has three lanes, each with a width of 3.50 metres. Two of these lanes run uphill and one downhill.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Director General of Road Infrastructure of the Canary Islands Government, Rosa Ana Melián, and the Councillor for Public Works of the Cabildo de La Palma, Darwin Rodríguez, among others.
