This morning took place the inauguration and commissioning of the new 6.2 km section of the B-40 dual carriageway between Olesa de Montserrat and Viladecavalls (Barcelona), built by the joint venture formed by COMSA, ACCIONA and Copisa.
The ceremony was attended by the minister of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, Oscar Puente; the director general of Roads, Juan Pedro Fernández; the general secretary of Transport, Marta Serrano; and the head of the State Roads Demarcation in Catalonia, Vicente Vilanova, among other authorities.
The project included the construction of the tunnel between Abrera and Viladecavalls, in which COMSA Industrial carried out the electrical and mechanical installations, as well as the commissioning of the ITS (Intelligent Traffic Systems).
The B-40 is a ring road around the Barcelona metropolitan area, as well as being a key infrastructure for industrial and business growth in the area, as it will directly connect the counties of Catalonia’s industrial engine. Its objective is to channel long-distance traffic, connecting with routes integrated into the State Road Network, such as the A-2 dual carriageway and the AP-7 motorway.
