COMSA is awarded the modernization and expansion of a highway in Mexico

COMSA, together with IMAPEX, has been awarded the modernization and expansion works of a section of the Ecuandureo – La Piedad Road section, belonging to the Red de Carreteras de Occidente, in Mexico. The contract consists of carrying out earthworks, pavements, structures, drainage and signalling works, and is scheduled to end in March 2023.

Specifically, the works are divided into two actions: a section about 22 km of the road will have a width of 7 to 12 meters, and a second, about 4 km, which will be extended from 12 to 16 meters. In addition, parallel to these works, COMSA will carry out the construction of two-level gates, 12 vehicular overpasses and two pedestrian underpasses. During the execution of the works, diversions will be enabled to keen the road operational.

Thanks to these works, the road will be improved its level of service and road capacity, which has a traffic volume of more than 24,000 vehicles per day, and the accident rate will also be reduced by not having overtaking restrictions. On the other hand, the horizontal and vertical alignment and its signalling will be improved with adequate pavement and drainage, which will increase the safety and transport of agricultural, fruit and livestock products in the area.

Mexican market

COMSA Corporación has had a stable presence in Mexico since 2009. During these years, the group has contributed to the development of large infrastructures in the country, executing, among others, the construction project of the Libramiento Sur highway in Guadalajara, the railway bypass of the Port of Veracruz, and the rehabilitation and maintenance of several Metro and Light Rail lines in Mexico City.

Nowadays, the company has carrying out the renovation of tracks and systems of Line 1 of the Mexico City Metro and the rehabilitation of La Mata – Colonia Jordán section of the Tehuantepec Isthmus Railway, among other infrastructure projects.

The group is also active in the engineering sector, mainly through the company EOLIS, which has its headquarters in CDMX and an air conditioning factory in Puebla, with a sales office in Guadalajara. EOLIS employs 300 people, including factory, assembly and office staff, and develops its business in the pharmaceutical and industrial sectors.
