The joint venture formed by COMSA and Lantania has been awarded the renovation works for the Line 1 of Metrovalencia commissioned by Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana (FGV).
The works will be developed in the section between the Valencia Sud and Villanueva de Castellón stations and will consist of the replacement of the existing turnouts with their drives and the modification of interlocks and centralized traffic control systems (CTC) due to changes in track configurations at some stations.
The contract also includes the renewal of the track in several branches, the most notable being the section between Paiporta-Torrent (3,600 m) and Espioca-Almaguer (1,880 m). Furthermore, the reform of the level crossings will be carried out, both for vehicles and pedestrians, which will involve the renovation of the road in the affected section, and the placement of a crossing over the Strail-type rubber tracks.
The main work units to be executed are the replacement of 45 turnouts, the supply and placement of 14,374 monobloc prestressed concrete sleepers, and the supply and placement of 24,932 m3 of ballast.
