The COMSA Corporación health and safety at work model has been awarded the Xcellens prize awarded annually by ASPY Prevención to companies seeking excellence in this area, beyond mere compliance with the legal obligations. The head of the joint prevention service, Roger Fábregas, accepted the award at the ceremony held yesterday in Madrid to mark the International Day for Health and Safety at Work.
ASPY has given this award to COMSA Corporación for its health surveillance model based on specific programmes involving measurement of the individual conditions of the workers, based on the “Healthy Company” criteria. For example, the analyses of the medical examinations carried out within the group include additional, non-compulsory indicators that provide workers with additional information on their health status and allow them to anticipate possible problems that may arise in the future.
The jury also attached valued to the desire for continuous improvement of the working conditions. In this regard, COMSA Corporación recently installed automated defibrillation equipment in its corporate headquarters in Barcelona and Madrid and also the centres in El Prat de Llobregat and Getafe, and has trained and certified staff in the group in the use of this equipment in case of emergency.
Finally, ASPY highlighted the integration of the preventive culture throughout the organisation with the existence of a compensation model based on objectives, in which specific indicators in this field play a key role, both for the production line and also for prevention.
The ASPY Xcellens awards annually recognise good practices and active policies in the field of the prevention of occupational risks. Along with COMSA Corporación, a total of seven companies have received awards this year.
