The Systems division of EMTE is participating in a project for the manufacture of wind towers using laser technology. The program, called Autowind, aims to develop a new welding system that increases productivity in the manufacturing of the shafts of wind turbines and reduces costs. EMTE brings to the project its expertise in the design of control systems for industrial process automation.
Autowind responds to the current needs of the wind energy market, which requires towers with larger shafts, and focusses its technology on the development of measurement, monitoring and control systems to automate the various manufacturing processes of the product.
The project is led by the wind tower manufacturer Gestamp Wind Steel Galicia and involves the participation of the companies Ganomagoga, Syspro Engineering and EMTE, and the AIMEN technology centre. Autowind is being carried out within the framework of the ERDF-INTERCONNECT programme of the European Union to promote R&D&i and is funded by the Centre for Industrial Technological Development (CDTI), the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness, the Galician Agency for Innovation and the Technology Fund.
