Minister Pastor visits the works at the L’Hospitalet de Llobregat station

On 28 January the Minister for Development, Ana Pastor, visited the works involving the refurbishment of the L’Hospitalet de Llobregat station (Barcelona), a project implemented by COMSA over the last 12 months and with a value exceeding 11 million euros.

Also present at the event were various representatives of COMSE EMTE, including the president, Jorge Miarnau, the CEO of Infrastructure and Engineering, Jaime Mulet, and the Director General of Engineering, Guillermo Lorenzo.

The work carried out at the station in L’Hospitalet had as its objective the optimisation of the operating capacity of one of the nerve centres of Barcelona’s commuter rail network. To this end, COMSA has modified the tracks and renovated the platforms and the underpass, and has improved the electrification, security and communications systems, among other things.

A total of 10,000 metres of track, 6,000 cubic metres of ballast and 6,500 sleepers have been used. Following the work that has been carried out, L’Hospitalet station now has 19 tracks, including two main tracks, ten terminal tracks, one for the maintenance of the infrastructure and the six remaining tracks for the maintenance of equipment and internal operations. These improvements will reduce the time necessary for the entry and exit of trains.

Meanwhile, COMSA has also improved the accessibility of the station, providing it with lifts and escalators to facilitate the movement of people with reduced mobility. It has also extended the platforms to a length of200 metres, with a width of six meters.
