Ibercargo will manage a new intermodal service between Porto and Tarragona

Geodis BM Ibérica, a subsidiary dedicated to complete and multimodal freight in the  Geodis group, and the Portuguese logistics provider SPC, are supporting multimodal development with the launch of a new intermodal service between Tarragona and Porto, and vice versa. This new service has two complete trains operating each week in both directions, for conventional freight and dangerous goods (ADR). The rail service is managed by Ibercargo, a joint venture between COMSA Rail Transport and the Portuguese company Takargo Rail.

In the words of Julio Oslé, Chief Operating Officer of Geodis BM for Southern Europe, “with this new service we want to give an impetus to the multimodal development of our company on the Peninsula, as this mode of transport is increasingly demanded by our customers. It is an alternative to road transport that, in addition to environmental benefits, provides other important advantages, such as higher levels of punctuality and travel times that are lower than those by road. Geodis BM Ibérica customers will as a result benefit from this new door to door, flexible, personalized and reliable service”.
