Enlargement of a railway terminal at Barcelona Port

The Board of Directors at the Port of Barcelona has awarded COMSA the contract for the enlargement works on the South Pier railway terminal, where the Barcelona Containers Terminal (TCB) is located. The project has a budget of 4.2 million euros and an execution time frame of nine and a half months.

The aim of the works is to turn five tracks into combined gauge tracks and to build new connections at both the north and south terminuses. The conversion of all the tracks on the South Pier railway terminal to mixed gauge will ensure efficacy and the easy flow of goods traffic, both on Iberian and international gauge.

The award of this contract strengthens COMSA’s activity in the sphere of port infrastructures. In recent years, the company has completed major projects such as the construction of the new terminal on Barcelona’s Prat Pier, the enlargement of the Andalusia Pier at Tarragona Port or the railway connection at the Port in Vilagarcía de Arousa (Pontevedra), among others.
