EMTE to build a pharmaceutical plant for Saidal in Algeria

The Saidal pharmaceutical group, a publicly-owned company and Algeria’s major drug manufacturer, has awarded EMTE a mechanical engineering contract in the city of Constantine. The project involves the construction of a new pharmaceutical plant for producing liquid forms and includes the construction of the building that will house the complex, critical services, general and cleanroom facilities.

The contract, valued at 19.2 million euros and with a duration of 20 months, was awarded to EMTE by public tender in which a dozen top international companies in the field took part. In 2011, COMSA EMTE’s Mechanical Installations division won its first engineering project for the Taphco Laboratory.

The signing of the contract was attended by Boumediène Derkaoui, CEO of the Saidal Group, and Guillermo Lorenzo, General Manager of COMSA EMTE Engineering. The ceremony was also attended by various local authorities, including the ministers of Health and Industry, SMEs and Investment Promotion, or Spain’s ambassador in Algiers, among others.
