Andalusian Public Works Minister visits Málaga metro works

On 28 September, the Regional Government of Andalusia’s Minister of Public Works and Housing, Elena Cortés, visited the Málaga metro construction works, which are being carried out by a concessionaire company of which COMSA EMTE forms part. The project consists of the construction of two underground lines with a combined total of 14.4 kilometres and 20 stations.

During her visit, the minister said that 481 million Euros have been invested in the metro so far, and went on to highlight the importance of the infrastructure for the city’s development. She also expressed delight at the progress of the works, especially with regard to lines 1 and 2 leading to the El Perchel interchange station (the routes that will enter into service at the end of 2013), which are already 85% complete.

Elena Cortés was taken on an exhaustive tour of the installations, including visits to the command and control office, the engine shed premises, the repair shop building and the El Perchel interchange station, considered a vital hub for the promotion of public transport and intermodality between the metro, the railway and the intercity buses.
