EMTE Sistemas has been awarded its first air navigation project in the Argentine market. The company will supply the Martín Miguel de Güemes airport, situated in the city of Salta, with an Instrument Landing System (ILS) that will allow it to operate 24 hours a day in any type of weather.
EMTE Sistemas will shortly begin the installation work for the new system, which is expected to be fully operative within three months. Until now the airport has only been able to operate 12 hours a day, so the ILS will enable the airport to double its operations and thus consolidate itself as the leading airport in northern Argentina.
This contract forms part of EMTE Sistemas’ strategy to diversify its activity in markets where it is already present. In Argentina it has carried out various projects in the field of telecommunications, such as supplying TETRA (Terrestrial Trunked Radio) radio-communications networks to Pan American Energy.
